Yes. Whether dizziness therapy is covered as part of physiotherapy depends on your personal health insurance. In most cases, the costs are covered by supplemental insurance for physiotherapy. If there is a chronic indication in accordance with nationwide regulations, treatment from the 21st session onwards can be covered by the basic insurance. The statutory deductible must be taken into account.

No, in the Netherlands you do not need a referral from your general practitioner thanks to direct access to physiotherapy (Directe Toegankelijkheid Fysiotherapie, DTF). You can make an appointment directly at a certified practice. The physiotherapist will first conduct a brief DTF screening to determine whether your dizziness symptoms can be treated directly or whether further medical examination is required beforehand.

Therapy according to the IVRT® standard is based on strictly evidence-based and active approaches. Our certified physiotherapists and occupational therapists in the Netherlands use standardized, scientifically validated tests and create customized exercises for gaze stabilization, balance training, and specific repositioning maneuvers for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).

Our courses impart evidence-based expertise for the targeted examination and treatment of vestibular disorders and take place regularly. Yes, the IVRT® courses are based on current scientific guidelines and are officially accredited by the relevant Dutch quality registers, such as KNGF/KRF and Keurmerk Fysiotherapie. For both our on-site courses and our online modules, Dutch physical therapists receive official accreditation points that are credited directly to their quality portfolio.

After successfully completing our basic courses and passing the exam, you will receive the IVRT® certificate and have the opportunity to join the IVRT® network. This will list you in our high-traffic therapist directory for the Netherlands and give you access to exclusive specialist resources.

With the IVRT® certificate, you demonstrate a highly effective specialization in dizziness and balance disorders. The IVRT® offers a modern blended learning concept. Certain theoretical foundations and preparatory modules are completed flexibly online. However, the intensive practical examination and treatment techniques are trained in-person (two times two days from 09:00 to 17:00) on-site in the Netherlands to guarantee the highest quality of treatment.

In addition to our in-person foundation courses, we offer specialized advanced courses:

  • In person: Advanced courses on topics such as BPPV, PPPD, concussion, oculomotor disorders, and central vestibular disorders.
  • Online only (after completing the basic course): Advanced modules covering anatomy, physiology, pathology, balance, spontaneous nystagmus, oculomotor function, and BPPV.
